TextSpeech Pro is a professional application. TextSpeech Pro supports copied text activation and XML speech tuning. The application can be minimized to the system tray and basic voice functions can be implemented from the tray icon making it convenient when working with many documents and applications. The speech can be exported to a WAV file and alternatively TextSpeech Pro can speak WAV files like an audio player. The Breaks functionality also lets TextSpeech Pro remember where the user has last stopped reading a document and resume the reading next time the user opens the TTSP file (TextSpeech Pro native file type) prototype of that same document. With Generation 2.0 TextSpeech Pro can now set start and end breaks which gives the user more control of how to direct the reading voice to read from/to a certain word. This makes the audio settings stamped to the file and then implemented when opening the file with the application. The application has an advanced multi-document structure and every document can be saved with the specified settings like voice type, volume, speed, audio format, etc., to a special TextSpeech Pro file format. It also can extract and read all emails from Microsoft Outlook. The software now can browse (with its integrated mini-web browser) web pages and read them right from its interface. Thus, TextSpeech Pro finally achieves the real human natural voice output and becomes the best text-to-speech product available today. With Generation 2.0, AT&T (R) Natural Voices (TM) (the best text-to-speech technology in the world) is integrated into TextSpeech Pro Deluxe and is optional for all other versions. It can read and speak all most common document types like text, PDF, MS Word and RTF (rich text format) documents. It is perfect for all personal and business text to speech needs. The software utilizes professional and advanced functions unavailable with other vendors. The Mac App store version - which I have - is still stuck at version 3.5.TextSpeech Pro is a professional application which helps users to convert text files to speech. I wish the Mac App store is soon update to match the version you can buy directly from the developer. When it exceeds GhostREader, I will switch to it as my go-to tool. I wish it's developer continued best wishes to improve the output. TextSpeech Pro seems to be much more actively developed than GhostReader. And its the output that ultimately counts. But its output sounds smoother and clearer - just a little bit better than TextSpeech Pro. TextSpeech Pro does have a complicated interface. The other voices are simply not worthwhile since the quality is too low - Cs and Ds for audiobook conversion. In regard to Cepstral voices and other additional voices versus the high quality built-in voices of Mac OS X Lion, I say the best for audiobook conversion are the built-in Alex and the Cepstral David. But I would regard the output from TextSpeech Pro as a B- grade and GhostReader as a solid B grade. The main problem with TextSpeech Pro that the output sounds harsher, more tinny, and is not as smooth as with GhostReader. "read" can be pronounced "reed" or "red" depending on the context and you can choose which one is best for the output. It has the advantage of being able to customize pronunciation - thus making it more understandable (e.g. But it wins out based on how smooth and understandable the speech is. The output can't be customized as much as with TextSpeech pro, however. GhostReader is the best of the text to speech products because its output is much closer to real human speech than the others. Can the audio output be customized by speed, prosody, pronunciation, etc. Is the audio output easily understandable like a real voice recording rather than a computerized voice? This means the sound has to be smooth and have prosody like real human speech.Ģ. I tried GhostReader, TextSpeech Pro, Narrator, and numerous other applications.ġ. I find it fantastic to listen to audio books since it stimulates the mind in some ways much better than by sight reading a book. Few of the books I am interested in are available as audio books. I like to convert my printed books and textbooks to audio books so I can listen to them while driving long distances to work.
